In The Unicode Standard, Coptic script implementation is discussed in  Chapter 7 Europe-I.

Prior to version 4.1 of The Unicode Standard, the Coptic script was considered a stylistic variant of the Greek script, and a unified Greek and Coptic block in the range U+03E2..U+03EF contained the Coptic characters which could not arguably be written with Greek letters. However, subsequent discussion determined that the two scripts would be better encoded separately, so version 4.1 added a Coptic block which contained characters needed for accurately processing Coptic text.

The Coptic script is now encoded in the following blocks:

Blocks Character Range Added in Unicode Version Unicode Chart
Greek and Coptic 03E2..03EF 1.0  U0370.pdf
Coptic 2C80..2CFF 4.1  U2C80.pdf

See also "Unicode Status (Combining marks)" for combining marks used in Coptic writings.

Subsequent to version 4.1, the following characters have been added to the Coptic script:

2CEB..2CF1 5.2  WG2 N3222/ L2/07-085
2CF2..2CF3 6.1  WG2 N3873/ L2/10-290,  WG2 N3912/ L2/10-348
