  • Richard Ishida has created a chart to show which features (for example, combining characters, ligatures, case, baseline etc.) apply to a number of writing systems, including English, French, Hausa, Igbo, Indonesian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Vietnamese and Yoruba written with the Latin script. The characteristics described are based on the exemplar character lists in the CLDR. The chart is intended to give a basic idea of which writing systems require what types of feature support.

  • The full text of the UDHR written in Vietnamese, taken from the  Unicode UDHR site. Further information on UDHR materials for Vietnamese may be available from the  United Nations Human Rights website.

  • Pickers allow you to quickly create phrases in a script by clicking on Unicode characters arranged in a way that aids their identification. The phrase appears at the bottom of the screen and you can easily cut and paste the result into your own document. They're written in XHTML with a small amount of JavaScript.

    This picker includes characters used for writing Vietnamese. Characters are taken from various Latin Unicode blocks.

  • The Vietnamese Nôm Preservation Foundation (VNPF) is a charity devoted to preserving 1000 years of writing in Chữ Nôm, the script historically used to write the Vietnamese language.
    Of the approximately 80 million Vietnamese speakers worldwide, today fewer than 100 scholars can read Chữ Nôm. The VNPF is focused on two projects: the publication of the first Nôm dictionary (in true print and computer-accessible), and the provision of scholarships to students who wish to study with a Nôm scholar. This page provides details of the VNPF's work, as well as resources relating to the script, including a free Nôm font.
