Why partner with ScriptSource?

ScriptSource exists to encourage and facilitate collaboration in language documentation and implementation of writing systems on computers. Maintaining and enriching this site to better fulfill its purpose depends on partnerships. We encourage you to consider how you - as an individual or through your organization - can engage with ScriptSource as a partner in this project.

Ways to partner with us

Partnership can take many different forms. It can be as limited as providing a few short entries or articles, or as extensive as helping us make strategic decisions about the site. Here are some of the possible ways you could partner with us:

Content Contributions and Editing

  • Providing content for specific domains or topics
  • Helping to identify useful sources of script data
  • Reviewing and editing content provided by others
  • Eliciting data from outside sources
  • Publishing data from ScriptSource on your web site (using the upcoming ScriptSource Data Connect API)

Promotion

  • Helping publicize and promote ScriptSource
  • Adding a link to ScriptSource from your web site

Site Development

  • Programming or technical assistance (such as PHP/JavaScript development, etc.)
  • Consultation on site design and user interface

Guidance

  • Helping with strategic planning and direction

Financial

  • Providing funding resources, either to support general development or targeted at a special area of content

What partnership means

Partnership with ScriptSource implies a mutual agreement upon specific shared responsibilities. In some cases it may be appropriate to enter into a legal agreement, particularly with regard to intellectual property and copyright issues. In other situations the partnership may be relatively informal. In any case, partnership requires a shared goal: to document the writing systems of the world and help those wanting to implement them on computers and other devices. A successful partnership also requires that both parties are accountable to one other to effectively realize this goal. Partners will also be recognized on the site for their contributions and participation.
